Douglas Solomon – Chairman and CEO
Douglas Solomon, co-founder of ID Solutions, has over 23 years of hands-on experience in the management of corporations and international subsidiaries. His experience includes over 13 years in international sales and marketing within the high-tech industry. Prior to founding ID Solutions, Douglas held various positions as President and/or CEO of various US-based and international companies. His experience and responsibilities include every aspect of running a business, people management, financial controls, resource planning and expansion/growth strategy of the company and its stakeholders. As a BSc. graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, he started his career with Hewlett Packard in South Africa in 1979 and in 1985 left HP to start one of the largest HP OEM’s in Africa, under the banner of the now publicly traded “Square One Group”. In partnership with various local and international companies, Douglas has been instrumental in establishing a beach-head for numerous new ventures in a variety of high-tech focused opportunities.
John Schmitt, PhD – President
John Schmitt, co-founder of ID Solutions, has over 25 years of experience in the management of projects, programs, products, engineering and business development organizations. His experience includes over 10 years in the biometrics industry, with specific focus on applications in law enforcement and large-scale civil ID implementations. Prior to founding ID Solutions, John held the position of Vice President, ID Systems for BioLink Technologies International, Inc., where he managed all aspects of the company’s large scale ID business and won the Nigerian Voter Registration Project enrolling over 60 million people in 40 days. Before joining BioLink, John had a successful independent consulting practice which, among other accomplishments, led to the founding and spin-off of AuthenTec, Inc., one of the pioneers of the biometrics industry, from Harris Corp., with a direct contribution to its core intellectual property (10 patents in various areas of fingerprint sensing, matching and applications awarded).
John also spent over 15 years with Harris Corp. in a variety of technical and management roles including Director of Product Management for a product line of high-end encrypted and fingerprint-enabled law enforcement radio systems. He also was the project manager for the police workstation, patrol car, and fingerprint processing segments of Harris' $160 million contract for NCIC 2000 with the FBI. Prior to Harris, Mr. Schmitt spent 4-1/2 years with Bell Labs in the systems engineering of the Bell System's advanced-generation offerings in business PBX systems. John received his BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Experimental Psychology and Quantitative Methodologies (Statistics) from Binghamton University.
Michael Wong – Vice President, Operations
Mike is a key founding manager for ID Solutions, coordinating all operations for the company worldwide. He has extensive, hands-on operating experience in the business and technical areas in the technology industry, including technical support, production, product development and logistics. He brings to the Company more than 20 years of management experience, including the management of technical staff and functions at the Xerox Corporation.
Mike also served as Vice President Operations/Chief Operating Officer at BioLink Technologies, Inc., for 5 years overseeing all aspects of product management, product development, manufacturing – including contract manufacturing in Asia, as well as directing and coordinating the software systems development team, fundamental core sciences development team and electrical engineering/hardware systems teams in Russia.
Alexander Solovey – General Manager ID Solutions Russia; Director Software Systems Architecture
Alexander Solovey heads up the Moscow Research & Development office as General Manager as well as Director of Software Systems Architecture, handling all aspects of the technology development vision and execution. Previous to joining ID Solutions, Alexander held the position of Project Manager of the Server Systems Department of BioLink Technologies, Inc., where he was responsible for the research and development work related to the company’s server products (hardware and software).
Prior to that, from 2000 to 2002 he worked in the Biolink Software Development Department as Chief Software Engineer. He was involved as system architect in the most important and large-scale projects of the company. From 1997 through 2000 Alexander worked as leading software engineer in “Open Systems Company”, where he was engaged in the development of large-scale distributed systems. He graduated the Moscow State University of Communications majoring in computer science with an Honors Diploma in 1997. Upon graduation, Alexander combined hard work in the IT industry, post-graduate courses, and teaching students at the Moscow State University of Communications.
